There is a right way to brush and floss your teeth. Every day:
- Brush your teeth with a soft-bristle brush and fluoride toothpaste on all sides. Every 3 to 4 months, replace your toothbrush.
- Use short back-and-forth strokes and little circular motions.
- Brush along your gum line with care and gentleness.
- To keep your mouth clean, lightly brush your tongue or use a tongue scraper.
- Dental floss, prethreaded flossers, a water flosser, or a similar tool can be used to clean between your teeth. Plaque and residual food that a toothbrush can't reach are removed this way.
After flossing, give your mouth a good rinse.
